      GRE

Prospective graduate and business school applicants from all around the world who are interested in pursuing a master's, specialized master's in business, MBA, J.D. degree, or doctoral degree can take the GRE General Test. GRE scores are used by admissions or fellowship panels to supplement your undergraduate records, recommendation letters and other qualifications for graduate-level study.

The GRE General Test is available at more than 1,000 test centers in more than 160 countries. In most regions of the world, the computer-delivered test is available on a continuous basis throughout the year. The GRE General Test is accepted at thousands of graduate schools, including business and law, as well as departments and divisions within these schools.

      Test Format

You will receive three scores on the GRE:

      • Analytical Writing
      • Verbal Reasoning
      • Quantitative Reasoning

In addition, you will see one of the following sections:

      • Unscored (may be either Verbal Reasoning or Quantitative Reasoning)
      • Research (used for ETS research purposes)

Your GRE score remains valid for 5 years.

      Registration

It is highly recommended that you register for your preferred GRE test date early so you can select a date that will allow enough time for ETS to process your scores and send them to the institutions you’ll be applying to. This can take from 10 to 15 days. During popular testing times, seats in testing centers can be limited.

You can take the computer-delivered GRE once every 21 days, up to 5 times within any continuous rolling 12-month period (365 days). This applies even if you canceled your scores on a test taken previously.

In order to register for the test, view your scores, and access other services, you'll need an ETS account.

The State Examination Service (SEC) has been registered with code number SEC STN15430A in the database of the GRE®. Examinees want to take the exam at the SEC’s test center can insert the code while searching for the test center.

      Late registration

Late registration closes 1 week after the regular registration date.

      Price

The cost to take the GRE General is $205 for all testing locations. The fee includes sending score reports to up to four graduate institutions of your choice.

The GRE exams are scheduled to be held by the SEC Testing Center in 2020 on the following dates:

      • March 21, 2020
      • April 5, 2020
      • May 9, 2020
      • June 26, 2020

      On test day

The test taker should bring a valid and acceptable identification.

You will have the access to an onscreen calculator during the Quantitative Reasoning section. Personal calculators are not permitted in the testing room.

      Breaks

The GRE General Test provides an optional 10-minute scheduled break following the third section, and a 1-minute break between the other test sections. Unscheduled breaks will also be allowed, but testing time does not stop for unscheduled breaks.

      Scores

If you take the computer-delivered GRE General Test, your official scores will be available in your ETS Account and sent to the institutions you designated approximately 10–15 days after your test date.

      Section

      Score Scale

      Verbal Reasoning

      130–170, in 1 point increments

      Quantitative Reasoning

      130–170, in 1 point increments

      Analytical Writing

      0–6, in half point increments

If no questions are answered for a specific measure (e.g., Verbal Reasoning), then you will receive a No Score (NS) for that measure.

If you have any questions regarding the GRE® tests administered by the SEC, you can contact the Test Center Administrator at s.huseynova@dim.gov.az
