On 9 March 2023, an event on "Trends for professionals in the fields of finance and accounting in Azerbaijan" was organized in the administrative building of the State Examination Center. The event was attended 60 people in total.
The Chairperson of the SEC Board of Directors Maleyka Abbaszade, the Deputy Chairperson Bahram Khalilov, ACCA Turkey Cluster (Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia) Market Development Manager Ulgen Coşkun Kıymık, the adviser to the chairman of the Chamber of Auditors of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fagan Garayev, head of the Accounting Policy Department of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan Firuza Abdullayeva, representatives of higher education institutions, heads of the structural department of the SEC, and students with ACCA certificates also participated.
Prior to the official part of event, the guests got acquainted with the museum established at the SEC reflecting the history of country’s national assessment system. They were informed about the establishment of the national assessment system and its path of development.
The event began with the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a minute's silence memory of our martyrs who died for the integrity of our Motherland, as well as of those who lost their lives as a result of earthquake in Turkey was honored with a minute of silence.
Chairperson of the SEC Board of Directors Maleyka Abbaszade made an opening speech and emphasized that contributing to the training of personnel with high financial literacy in the field of accounting and audit is one of the goals of SEC. Moreover, the chairperson said that the collaboration of SEC with the Ministry of Finance, professional accountant organizations, educational centers and higher education institutions will allow specialists to be aware of innovations and changes in the field in a timely manner, as well as to constantly meet the demands of the latest and competitive labor market. She also noted the importance of close collaboration with ACCA for aligning CPA examinations to the standards of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
Adviser to the chairman of the Chamber of Auditors of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fagan Garayev talked about the importance of training personnel in the fields of finance, audit, and accounting by determining the career aspirations of younger generation. He also noted the significance of application of international standards in ensuring accountability and transparency in the country, fighting against corruption and the shadow economy, using financial resources more efficiently, and increasing the investment potential of the country's economy.
Head of the Accounting Policy Department of the Ministry of Finance Firuza Abdullayeva said that obtaining a certificate of professional accountant and creating a class of professional accountants is intended for the continuous development of this field. She highlighted that the increase in the number of people who successfully passed the examinations for obtaining the certificate of professional accountant today is an indicator of the fact that accountants are working on themselves, increasing their knowledge and skills.
At the event, ACCA Turkey Cluster (Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia) Market Development Manager Ulgen Coşkun Kıymık shared detailed information with the audience about the results of ACCA Global Talent Trends Survey 2023. It should be noted that within the research involving 8405 accountants from 148 countries including Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan ranked 5th for the efforts of the participants.
Finally, Emil Aliyev, an employee of SEC sector on examinations for civil service, certificate of professional accountant and other certificate exams informed the participants about the general information and statistical indicators related to the CPA Examinations.

To note that as a result of successful collaboration established between SEC and ACCA, a preliminary agreement has been reached regarding the initiation of accreditation of the certificate of professional accountant (CPA) by ACCA.
