On 20 May 2021, 4th session of Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was held. Head of the SEC Department on Strategic Development Vali Huseyn also attended the session.
The session was co-chaired by Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Graham Stuart, Parliamentary Representative Under Secretary of State and Minister for Exports of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Representatives of relevant public institutions of both countries made speeches, as well as discussed current economic development in their countries and the progress made in bilateral trade relations since the 3rd session of Joint Commission held in London on 22 May 2019.
In the minutes of the session, it was decided to arrange a cooperation between the SEC and the relevant public institutions of the UK in the following directions:
In the field of educational assessment:
- To enhance the quality standards of the SEC with regard to assessment tools within mutual exchange of practice;
- To study the practice of the United Kingdom in the management of exams distantly and use of technology in exams;
- To make exchange of practice in development of rules and guidelines on the preparation and organization of assessment tools.
In the field of civil service
- Admission to Civil Service in the United Kingdom – application, selection and interview stages of admission and online management thereof;
- Management of activities in Civil Service – a broad approach of the UK Civil Service and its individual application in ministerial departments of the UK;
- Talent management approaches and the ways to apply them in the UK Civil Service for providing promotion and growth in career.
In the field of economy:
- To discuss how the international standards and certification will help Azerbaijan improve the indicators, reduce the costs, manage and reduce the risks, expand the international trade, speed up innovation, increase sustainability, demonstrate quality, and build investor trust.
To note that the State Examination Center collaborates with the UK’s organizations such as British Council and Cambridge Assessment in the field of English language and education.
