Aptitude assessment
Admission majors of higher education and vocational education institutions also include majors that require aptitudes.
Majors of higher education institutions requiring aptitude test cover the following 6 directions.
1. Fine Art
2. Music Art
3. Architecture
4. Theatre, Cinema, and Choreography
5. Physical Education and Sport
6. Journalism
The majors of higher education institutions requiring an aptitude test, namely, Fine Arts, Music Art, Theatre, Cinema and Choreography, Physical Education, and Sport, are included in the V major group. The major of higher education institutions requiring aptitude test on Architecture is included in the I major group.
V major group applicants, who graduated complete secondary education (Grade XI) in previous years or in foreign countries and want to study the majors of higher education institutions requiring aptitude test, first take admission examination in a similar format with school-leaving examination and participate in the admission competition with the score they gained. Applicants, who graduated complete secondary education in the Republic of Azerbaijan in the current year, don’t attend admission examination and participate in the admission competition with the score they gained in school-leaving examination.
Applicants, who want to participate in the admission competition on “Architecture” major, which is included in the I major group, first attend a general test examination. They participate in aptitude assessment examination based on their score.
The major “Journalism” belongs to the III major group. The applicants first attend a general test to participate competition on the journalism. Depending on the results of the test, they register to take the aptitude tests. Applicants getting a mark that's above the average can participate in the competition in this major.
Moreover, the major “Islamic studies” is included in the III major group. The major does not belong to any direction and has special requirements for admission. Applicants wishing to participate in the competition on the major of Islamic studies first take an admission examination to the III major group. Should they comply with the requirements, they participate in an interview stage in front of the Religious-Psychological Commission. Applicants who get a mark that's above the average guarantee the right to participate in the competition on the major of Islamic studies.
Applicants who wish to study on the majors of higher education institutions requiring aptitude test first formalize their electronic application and then can take the admission examination (school-leaving examination for graduates of current year) conducted by the SEC in a centralized format. The applicants, whose total admission exam marks meet the competition requirements imposed by the SEC, should register electronically with respect to the relevant commissions. Only registered applicants gain the right to take part in the aptitude test.
The applicants at the same time can participate both in the competition of majors requiring special aptitude by taking the admission examination for the V major group (school-leaving examination for graduates of current year), and in the competition of majors of I, II, III or IV groups by taking an admission examination on one (or two) of abovementioned major groups. Moreover, the applicant can participate in the competition on the majors of vocational education institutions based on the score of the admission examination for the V major group (score school-leaving examination for graduates of current year.
