On June 12, as part of her visit to London, Maleyka Abbaszade, Chairperson of the Board of the State Examination Center (SEC), met with Mafu S. Rakometsi, President of the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA), and members of the IAEA Board of Trustees (https://iaea.info/about-us/iaea-board-of-trustees/).
During the meeting, the work carried out within the framework of long-term cooperation between the SEC and IAEA, innovations in the field of assessment, the association's activities, and future cooperation issues were discussed. At the end of the meeting, IAEA President Mafu S. Rakometsi presented a "Certificate of Congratulations" to M. Abbaszade on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the SEC.
It should be noted that cooperation with the IAEA began in 1999 during the membership of the State Students Admission Commission (SSAC) in the Association. Azerbaijan hosted the IAEA annual conferences in 2007 and 2019. At the same time, the Center's employees share our country's experience in the field of assessment with an international audience by delivering presentations at the Association's annual conferences held in various parts of the world.
For information, within the framework of the SEC delegation's visit to London, Elmir Shirinov, Head of the Digital Development, Innovations, and Strategic Project Management Unit of the Center, also attended the annual meeting of the International Association for Educational Assessment held on June 11–12, where strategic development directions were discussed. He participated in this meeting as a representative of the SEC and a member of the IAEA Board of Trustees. E. Shirinov also chairs the Strategic Communication Committee operating under the IAEA Board of Trustees. The two-day meetings held at the Aga Khan Centre (https://www.agakhancentre.org.uk) were aimed at strengthening the future strategic development directions and sustainability of the IAEA and covered discussions on the Association's long-term vision, strategic management issues, membership expansion, and increasing member activity. Participants reviewed ways to expand participation within the Association, improve communication and marketing strategies, as well as strengthen the IAEA's role in international cooperation, contribution to international development, professional development programs, and recognition issues. Financial planning, opportunities for organizing future conferences, and issues of increasing the Association's global visibility were also discussed at the meeting. Overall, the discussions served to strengthen institutional capacity, promote international cooperation in the field of educational assessment, and determine strategic priorities and specific action directions for the future development of the IAEA.
